Extracting image from IFD2

I wanted to build an awesome place for people to discuss module specific issues, but I don't have any more time for this, and there are much better places to discuss Perl-related issues. I'd recommend asking your question on Stack Overflow or on Perl Monks.

Hi Phil,

There are three options to extract embedded images from raw files:
-PreviewImage,
-JpgFromRaw and
-ThumbnailImage.

Now, at least CR2 files also contain some image inside IFD2, which is either jpeg or uncompressed (depending on camera). To keep story short... is it possible to extract this image? Being naive, I've tried with "-IFD2:PreviewImage" -which failed.

What to say... thanks in advance :-)

Hi Bogdan,

ExifTool only extracts displayable images. I'm pretty sure I looked into this before and found that this image is not in a displayable format. Yes, it is marked as JPEG compression, but it is not valid JPEG data. See http://wildtramper.com/sw/cr2/cr2.html for more details.
