Canon 450D: Makernotes Sharpness tag
Hi Phil,

It's about Canon Makernotes... I can see exiftool shows Sharpness tag for 350D and 400D, but not for 450D.
Did you somehow "forgot" about it, or has Sharpness tag of 450D unknown status (redefined by Canon)?

Thanks for answering... greetings,
Bogdan

Re: Canon 450D: Makernotes Sharpness tag
The 450D writes and "n/a" status to the Sharpness tag, so exiftool does not extract this value. It may be stored in a new location for this camera, but if so it has yet to be discovered.

Re: Canon 450D: Makernotes Sharpness tag
Hi Phil,
I've done a little research... and it seems Sharpness value is written at file offset 1748h.
For example, if using -htmldump, then i can see:
1740 00 00 00 00 1c 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 -ProcessingInfo value
-in this case, value 03 is Sharpness setting.
If I change above value in raw file (using Hex editor), then Canon DPP software will show new Sharpness value according to my changing.

I don't know if there's also something else needed to be known in this regard...

Re: Canon 450D: Makernotes Sharpness tag
Hi Bogdan,

Ah. This is the same location that the 1D and 5D use. This makes sense, thanks! I will update this in the next release.

There are likely other tags I could decode for the 450D too. Once imaging-resource has posted the full review of the 450D, I will analyze their samples to see what else I can find.

Re: Canon 450D: Makernotes Sharpness tag
Hi Phil,
I'm so glad being of some help -so exiftool will be the first showing this tag for 450D :-)
As I don't own 450D, I too have just collected some examples from imaging-resource... but filenames there are quite cryptic for this purpose :-)

Greetings,
Bogdan
