I wanted to build an awesome place for people to discuss module specific issues, but I don't have any more time for this, and there are much better places to discuss Perl-related issues. I'd recommend asking your question on Stack Overflow or on Perl Monks.
If you are looking for a Perl tutorial or Perl-related news, I hope these links will serve you well.

Custom tags for photos of plants
I am making a photo collection of plants( trees, shrubs etc). In addition to the usual info, camera, date, photographer, rights etc. I want to identify the subject ( plant ) of each photo by its scientific name. I want this information inside ( metadata? ) the photo, just like writing on the back of a paper photo, because i anticipate various uses and places and applications and transformations of the photos without needing to create new databases and or other types of containers or add separate text pages each time. At some point i hope to make the collection available on my free public website for a small but specific user base. Encyclopedia of Life and WikiSpecies are similar examples but not quite the same as my project. Thus; Family [ family name ] , Genus [ genus name ], Species [ species name ] Example: Family [Myrtacea] Genus [Eucalyptus] Species [grandis] Explanation: The international scientific plant naming system is hierarchical thus; "Family" contains one or more "Genus", "Genus" contains one or more "Species". I am also using Digikam 1.2 for its GUI metadata capabilities,as i am an artist and greenie and no kind of programmer. But Digikam at this time does not allow Custom tag field creation via its GUI interface. Ubuntu 10.04.1, Libimage- Exiftool- perl 7.89-1, libimage-info-perl 1.28-1 On reading various exiftool documentation including this forum and the Exiftool config file examples (Thread 7404) I can say that i am well out of my depth and would much appreciate some help with the exiftool config file. Perhaps if you could make an example file using my plant info above it might help me? Regards Phantomgreenie

Re: **** The ExifTool Forum HAS MOVED! ****
Phil, registering at the new site sends a "welcome" email that is empty so there is no link to click and verify the email. Is there another way to complete the registration?
