Thanks Phil. I feel like a complete dork. When I went back and looked, there was the rogue ImageDescription file in the directory just like I told the shell to do! :-)

By the way, I have always been placing my image description information in the UserComment field, but I started using an image viewer that is displaying the ImageDescription field by default. Is there any "standard" for how these two fields are generally being used? Right now, the ImageDescription field is filled in with my camera name by default, so I was planning to write a script to run through all my image files and duplicate the UserComment to the ImageDescription. Should I be aware of anything else regarding the use of two fields?
