Assigning Creation Date to Modified Date

I want to assign the photo's creation date to its modified date but when try this line

exiftool -ModifyDate=$CreateDate DSC_2808.jpg

I get this error

Invalid date/time (use YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS[.SS][+/-HH:MM|Z]) in IFD0:ModifyDate (PrintConvInv)

So could somebody pass on the correct syntax?
