I wanted to build an awesome place for people to discuss module specific issues, but I don't have any more time for this, and there are much better places to discuss Perl-related issues. I'd recommend asking your question on Stack Overflow or on Perl Monks.

Problems using CPAN to update or install any modules
When trying to install or upgrade any cpan modules I get the following error message:
Checking if your kit is complete...
Looks good
Writing Makefile for HTML::Parser
-- NOT OK
Running make test
Can't test without successful make
Running make install
make had returned bad status, install seems impossible
my perl version:
perl-5.8.3-32.1
my linux version:
Linux gwaihir 2.6.5-7.97-smp #1 SMP Fri Jul 2 14:21:59 UTC 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (i586)

I tried 2 different modules, same error messages ?
any help would be appreciated ! Thank You
