Manage $ENV variables within a sub based on HTTPHeaderFixup.

Using Apache2::RequestRec we do $r->subprocess_env; to make %ENV available. Does anyone know the way to manipulate $ENV variables within the HTTPHeadersFixup::manip? Thank you in advance.
