Cannot call new()

Version 0.23
Solaris 10
Perl 5.8.6 w/ ithread support

Inside the new() method, when it tries to call

$self->{shutdown_lock}->down();

I get a message about not being able to call a function on an unblessed reference. Anyone else see this? Mike
